Barcelona not considering selling misfiring superstar, but want player to reduce his salary

Over the past few weeks, there has been a lot of talk around the future of Barcelona superstar Robert Lewandowski, in light of his misfiring form.

The 35-year-old Polish centre-forward has seen his returns in front of goal dwindle this season and his all-round game has also dropped, sparking some discontentment within the club hierarchy.

In fact, this past weekend it was suggested that executives from within the club might be in contact with an agent from Saudi Arabia to facilitate Lewandowski’s sale in the summer of 2024.

However, as per SPORT, Barcelona have never considered and are not thinking about selling Lewandowski in the summer transfer window of 2024.

The 35-year-old was signed by president Joan Laporta in 2022 as a big market coup and despite his recent run of form, the veteran striker is seen as an integral part of the project moving forward.

Furthermore, Lewandowski is also not in favour of leaving, at least not next season. He has adapted perfectly to life at Barcelona and is happy at the club and in the city.

At the Blaugrana club, they know that there are teams in Saudi Arabia who are very interested in the Pole and would throw the big bucks at his signing.

But Lewandowski does not believe that the time has come to move to the Middle East. He sees himself at Barça fulfilling his contract and playing at the highest level for two more seasons.

It must be remembered that Lewandowski signed a three-year contract until 2025 with Barcelona, with an option for another year until 2026.

The striker agreed to an ascending salary contract when signing, so that there would be no problems with the salary cap, and next season he will be the one to receive the highest salary.
