Barcelona are on the lookout for midfield reinforcements in January and have several names on their radars as potential targets.
One such player that the Catalan heavyweights are monitoring is Fluminense star Andre Trindade.
The 22-year-old Brazilian international has given a good account of himself over the past year, winning the Copa Libertadores and making it to the finals of the FIFA Club World Cup, where Fluminense lost to Manchester City.
Barcelona director Deco is understood to be following Andre’s progress, and although there is nothing concrete at this moment, the Catalans could face competition if they do decide to sign the 22-year-old.
Guardiola eyeing Andre
Indeed, as per a report relayed by Mundo Deportivo, Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has set his sights on Andre as a possible signing for the future.
Man City defeated Fluminense 4-0 earlier this week to lift the FIFA Club World Cup and during the game, some of the players from the Brazilian outfit are understood to have caught the former Barcelona manager’s eye.
Andre, as per the report, happens to be one of those players, with the midfielder impressing on the night despite his team ending up on the losing side.
Barcelona interested, but not a priority
As mentioned earlier, Andre is a player that Barcelona admire, but the midfielder, whose market value stands at €25 million, is not seen as a priority target by the Catalans.
Deco’s good relationship with the executives at Fluminense does make him an option, but Andre is not at the top of the club’s wishlist.
Whether that changes in the days to come or if the La Liga champions look elsewhere remains to be seen.
