Fleetwood Haiya ends Walter Nyamilandu’s 19-year Malawi presidency

December 17 – Fleetwood Haiya (pictured) has been elected the new president of the Malawi FA (FAM), bringing to an end the longstanding reign of Walter Nyamilandu.  Nyamilandu, who sought a sixth term, was voted out on Saturday at the FAM presidential elections, beaten by Fleetwood 23 votes to 13. Aston Villa owners take in new money from Atairos for expansion of V Sports

December 15 – Premier League Aston Villa’s holding company, V Sports, has secured an investment from east coast US private equity firm Atairos. V Sports is a joint venture company owned by Egyptian/American billionaire Nassef Sawiris and US billionaire Wesley Edens.
