Chris Richards has certainly made the most of his new situation at Crystal Palace, but a daunting trip to reigning champions Manchester City won’t be easy for the American defender and his teammates on Saturday.
Roy Hodgson’s squad travels to the Etihad Stadium on Saturday for a first head-to-head meeting with the Citizens. Richards has started in each of the last three matches for the Eagles, logging 90 minutes in all three of those appearances. The 23-year-old has done well individually, but overall the team has struggled to find any consistency of late.
Crystal Palace has failed to win any of its last five matches, losing 2-1 to Liverpool last weekend. Richards will not only aim to retain his starting spot for the Eagles, but also try and limit one of Europe’s best attacking units.
In Germany, John Brooks and Hoffenheim face RB Leipzig. Gio Reyna and Borussia Dortmund take on Augsburg.
In England, Haji Wright and Coventry City take on Leeds United. Antonee Robinson, Tim Ream and Fulham face Newcastle United.
In France, Folarin Balogun and Monaco take on Lyon.
In Italy, Christian Pulisic, Yunus Musah and AC Milan face Monza. Weston McKennie and Juventus visit Genoa.
Elsewhere, Dante Polvara and Aberdeen face Rangers in the League Cup Final. Alex Zendejas and Club América take on Tigres. Bryan Reynolds and Gabriel Slonina go head-to-head in Belgium. Ricardo Pepi and his PSV teammates face off with Djordje Mihailovic and AZ Alkmaar.
