Barcelona not ready to budge from €1 billion price tag for Bayern Munich-linked centre-back

Earlier today, we confirmed that Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich are looking for a defender and while earlier reports suggested that their pursuit might aid Barcelona in raising some capital, a report from Mundo Deportivo has confirmed that the German team has also put Ronald Araujo on their agenda.

Bayern’s strategic focus on targeting the Uruguayan defender is largely dependent on his quality of winning duels and most importantly, his ability to play across different defensive positions.

Araujo’s speed has impressed Bayern Munich

In addition to his proficiency in winning duels and excelling in tackles or aerial challenges, what truly sets Araujo apart as a standout player is his exceptional speed.

In the UEFA Champions League this season, it has been brought to light that Araujo has reached an astonishing top speed of 34.5 km/h – a remarkable feat for a player of his height.

Furthermore, in the recent match against Atletico Madrid, his impressive full-speed retreat showcased his determination to achieve the seemingly impossible.

Barcelona will not budge

At the youthful age of 24, he was named Barça’s captain through his remarkable achievements. With a contract extending until June 2026, featuring an astonishing release clause of €1 billion, his commitment to the team is unparalleled.

Now, it must be noted that despite renewing his contract in April 2022, financial constraints prevented Barcelona from officially registering him until August 2023. Yet, his persistent loyalty towards Barcelona remained unscathed.

Araujo’s commitment can be understood by the fact that he played the entirety of the match against Atletico even after sustaining a broken cheekbone in the first half.

True to his character, he faced the challenge with patience, completing 97 minutes of play and heading straight to a television interview without a hint of complaint….
