Bulgaria’s FC Hebar appeals to fans for cash to pay player wages after municipality ends its support

December 7 – Bulgarian side FC Hebar Pazardzhik is asking his fans and local companies for financial support to keep the club going after the Municipality of Pazardzhik pulled its funding.

The Pazardzhik Municipality has been the club’s principle source of finance for a number of years but after the local elections in Bulgaria last month, financial support was ended.

Heber competes in the first tier of Bulgarian football and currently lies 12th in the 16-team division

Heber’s management in an open letter to fans and local businessmen appealed for help to meet the wage bill of about 60 players and staff over the next two months before, the club said, local authority funding would restart.

“FC Heber has decided to launch a donation campaign, which will aim to financially support the club during the upcoming very difficult months – December and January,” said the club appeal letter.

“We would like to point out that it will have a completely temporary nature (two months) and its purpose is, by means of the funds raised, for the club to avoid falling into a state of default with all the ensuing effects.

“In the shortest possible time, FC Heber must collect the necessary financial resources to pay off the players, sports and technical staff, administration, staff and coaching staff of the club’s Academy. There are about a total of 60 people involved in the activities of the most recognizable football brand in the area.”

The club emphasised the money was required to maintain “normal functioning of the club, until the municipal subsidy is resumed. As a local community, it is important that we can join hands together and build a new, sustainable framework of behavior for the preservation and development of the club going forward.”
