“I have a sneaky feeling” – BBC pundit makes two predictions for Everton vs Newcastle

Chris Sutton has released his latest round of Premier League predictions ahead of Newcastle’s trip to Goodison Park on Thursday night.

The BBC pundit was ‘tempted to go for a draw’, but is backing Newcastle to come away with a tight 2-1 win, believing former Toffees winger Anthony Gordon might be ‘the difference’ on his return to Merseyside.

We’ve been in superb form, coping incredibly with the number of injuries. However, we must improve our away form after a 2-0 defeat at Bournemouth and 2-2 draws at Wolves and West Ham in our last three league games on the road.

Everton are under pressure following that 10-point deduction and come into the game in the bottom three. They’ve also lost five of their seven home games this season, winning just once, although they’ll come into this with confidence after Saturday’s 1-0 win at Nottingham Forest.

Here’s what Sutton told BBC Sport when asked for his prediction:

‘This should be a really good game. between two teams who will throw everything at it.

‘Everton’s home form is not great, but they have total belief in their approach under Sean Dyche and they play like they share the same cause. But Newcastle’s unity is also great to see – they are all in with Eddie Howe and fully invested in his playing style as well.

‘I was tempted to go for a draw but with former Everton winger Anthony Gordon going back to Goodison Park, I have a sneaky feeling he might make the difference.’

Sutton’s prediction: Everton 1-2 Newcastle
