PSG very close to completing the signing of Barcelona midfield target, have salary agreement in place

With Barcelona looking for a new pivot midfielder for the summer of 2024, the name of Corinthians prodigy Gabriel Moscardo has been touted as a possible target.

The 18-year-old midfielder has been one of the revelations of the 2023 season in Brazil, attracting interest from a plethora of top European clubs, including the likes of Barcelona and Chelsea.

Barça director Deco had personally led talks with the teenager’s entourage about a possible move, but as things stand, all signs point towards Moscardo heading to PSG instead.

PSG director in Brazil to finalise talks

Indeed, as per Joaquim Piera of SPORT, PSG are going all out to sign Gabriel Moscardo, with the club’s sporting director, Luis Campos, already in Sao Paulo, to sit down to negotiate with Corinthians officials.

For the moment, there is no formal offer from the Parisian giants for the 18-year-old pivot, but his transfer price could reach €25 million, which is the value of the last proposal tabled by Chelsea for the defensive midfielder.

This was rejected due to the imminence of the elections for the presidency of the Brazilian club, which took place last Saturday, and now the way is clear to negotiate.

As per the report, the inaction of Barça, who are not getting the desired results with the negotiating channels opened by Deco, and Chelsea, who presented two offers for the player in recent months, have been used by the French champions to try to tie down Moscardo.

Salary agreement in place

PSG have arrived in Sao Paulo with their homework done, because they have already closed a salary agreement with Moscardo, which could help them when negotiating with Corinthians.

With Campos now in Brazil to progress talks over his signing, all signs point towards the 18-year-old ending up in Paris, with Barcelona missing out on his services.
