Barcelona’s €35 million-rated loanee still attracting interest from Saudi Arabian clubs

A new muscle injury has cut short the positive season Barcelona youngster Ansu Fati was having on loan at Brighton & Hove Albion.

The 21-year-old has suffered a hamstring injury that is set to keep him out of action for three months, with the youngster facing yet another setback in his fledgeling career.

Having struggled for game time at Barça last season, Fati joined Brighton and had scored four goals from 14 games when his injury struck.

Saudi Arabia interest still remains

Prior to the injury, there had been reports of Ansu Fati attracting serious interest from clubs in Saudi Arabia for the summer of 2024.

And now, SPORT is reporting that despite his latest injury, the 21-year-old Barcelona loanee is still very much on the market, with the Saudi Arabian League seeing him as a strategic investment for the summer of 2024.

The Middle Eastern clubs have already have confirmed to Fati’s entourage that their interest in him is total for the summer as long as Ansu gives the OK for a move away.

Saudi Arabian approaches for Ansu are not new. Already this summer, two clubs contacted his entourage to try to get him to leave Barça, but the player flatly refused to accept.

Fati wanted to take his chances at Barcelona or go to a team in the Premier League where he felt he could play a leading role. As such, he turned down Wolves in favour of Brighton at the insistence of Roberto De Zerbi.

The report goes on to add that Fati has always wanted to maintain his connection with Barcelona because his dream is to succeed as a Blaugrana, something that his physical problems have prevented him from doing until now.

That is why he only agreed to go on loan, with his contract at the club running until the summer of 2027.
