Having loaned out Joao Felix to Barcelona last summer, Atletico Madrid are now in a hurry to try to solve his long-term future, reports SPORT.
The 24-year-old’s permanent departure is necessary for them to go ahead with their next sporting project and this weekend they will try to make progress with Barça to find a solution for the future when the two teams face off in La Liga.
Barcelona want Joao Felix, but not in a hurry
Barcelona’s idea is to secure Joao Felix’s continuity, provided that the operation is economically viable. They are counting on the player’s desire to make the move permanent and have communicated this to his entourage.
But, there is no interest in rushing events on the Blaugrana’s part, because time is on their side and they are clear that at the end of the season, they can get more advantageous conditions.
The report adds that the differences between the two clubs, as far as his valuation is concerned, are huge. As such, the Portuguese ace will likely be able to stay only if a transfer is agreed for the future with another loan deal in between.
Barça’s financial situation means there will be real problems with the salary cap in the summer. There are players’ salaries that are going to increase substantially and they are going to need to make departures to be able to sign.
This summer they already had to agree a bizarre formula of loaning Joao Felix at a very low salary for the signing to go through, but next season they will have to take on the player’s full salary.
