Barcelona considering advancing the signings of on-loan duo to January in €55 million double deal

It’s no secret that Barcelona are thrilled to have the likes of Joao Felix and Joao Cancelo in their rank and if a report from Mundo Deportivo is to be believed, the team from Catalonia is looking to acquire their services on a permanent transfer in as early as January.

Felix and Cancelo are currently on loan from Atletico Madrid and Manchester City respectively and Barcelona have been seriously considering the aforementioned option for the past couple of weeks.

The Joaos do not want to return

The two are living up to expectations and their stats are the perfect example of that. Within the sporting area at Barcelona, there is an idea to invest in them and the club wants to rush the decision for several noteworthy reasons.

The first idea is largely driven by the belief that both players have the potential to reach greater heights. This, in turn, could lead to increased financial demands from their respective clubs and attract new potential bidders at the end of the season.

While Barça are confident that the Portuguese duo has a preference for staying, they recognize the need to remain proactive. Furthermore, even the players are vocal about not wanting to return to their original clubs.

So what is Barcelona’s plan?

Right now, Barcelona’s plan is to actively engage with Atletico and Man City for the Portuguese duo. 

It must be noted that Atletico value Felix at approximately €80 million, while City are looking to secure around €25 million for Cancelo.

The idea within the club is to lower these asking prices and offer Atletico €40 million for the forward and €15 million for the defender, tying both players up for a total of €55 million.

The preferred approach for signing these players revolves around direct transfers. In Felix’s case, Barça is contemplating the inclusion of a player favoured by the Atlético coaching staff as part of the deal.
