Spurs want Jota loan – Soccer News

Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing winger Jota on loan from Al-Ittihad in January, according to The Times.

Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou is obviously aware of the need to sign a wide player with attacking attributes as soon as possible, given the serious injuries suffered by Ivan Perisic and Manor Solomon. For Perisic, the season is over already due to an ACL tear, while Solomon should be back in action in around two months.

Jota joined Al-Ittihad as part of the Europan exodus to Saudi Arabia this summer, with Celtic receiving a fee of close to €30 million for his services. Postecoglou worked with the 24-year-old in Scotland and obviously knows him well – a two-footed winger who prefers to play on the left but is equally capable of threatening defences from the right as well.

Jota has one goal in eight matches for Nuno Espirito Santo’s side in all competitions, but with clubs in Saudi Arabia only allowed to register eight foreign players for the Saudi Pro League campaign, the former Spurs boss has excluded him from his squad. A loan move to help him regain match routine therefore makes perfect sense.
