Asian Cup 2023 tickets sales strong as second release sells 90K in 24 hours

November 28 – Organisers of the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023, to be played in January-February next year, are reporting that more than 90,000 tickets were sold within the first 24 hours of the second batch of tickets being released on November 19.

This follows on from more than 150,000 tickets being sold in the first release of tickets in mid-October, with 81,209 tickets being sold within the first 24-hours of release. The first release of tickets were sold out within a week.

Supporters from Qatar, Saudi Arabia and India lead the nations in terms of tickets bought.

Most requested games are the tournament opener between Qatar and Lebanon, scheduled for 12 January at the Lusail Stadium, and the group game between Saudi Arabia and Oman.

Twenty-four teams from across Asia will compete in Qatar between January 12 and February 10, 2024. A total of 51 matches will be played. This will be the third time that Qatar has hosted the competition, having previously hosted in 1988 and 2011.

Seven of the 2022 World Cup venues will feature at the Asian Cup – as well as Lusail, they are Al Bayt, Khalifa International, Al Janoub, Ahmad bin Ali, Al Thumama and Education City stadiums.

The Jassim bin Hamad Stadium and Abdulla bin Khalifa Stadium will also host matches.

Prices for group stage match tickets start at 25 QAR (£6.50) and can be purchased online through the official ticketing website (http://asiancup2023.qa). Fans can follow their favourite team through a variety of packages.

The Qatar Local Organising Committee have said that tournament ticket sales revenue will be donated to humanitarian relief initiatives in Palestine.

The money will be specifically used to provide medical support and food relief to people in Palestine, emphasised the Qatar LOC.
