Americans Abroad Player of the Week: Tanner Tessmann

Italian Serie B side Venezia are top of the league table and Tanner Tessmann’s production and impact are a major reason for it.

Tessmann delivered a Man of the Match showing on Saturday in Venezia’s 3-0 win over Bari, moving them to 30 points on the season. The U.S. men’s national team midfielder scored once and also added one assist in a strong 90-minute performance, earning SBI Americans Abroad Player of the Week honors.

After Venezia took a 1-0 lead through Nicholas Pierini’s opening goal, Tessmann’s long-range shot from outside of the box iced the eventual road win. The former FC Dallas midfielder also helped set up an insurance goal for Venezia in the 97th minute, capping off a a fourth-straight league win for the club.

In addition to his goal and assist, Tessmann won all four his duels, made two tackles, and two clearances.

The 22-year-old now has three goals and two assists in 14 league appearances this season and remains a key contributor heading into the remainder of the fall schedule.

Antonee Robinson

Fulham claimed an important home league win on Monday night with Antonee Robinson riding his strong run of form into the match.

Robinson assisted once in the Cottagers 3-2 triumph over Wolves in Premier League play. The USMNT left back also made two interceptions, six recoveries, and won five of seven duels in the match.

The 26-year-old Robinson will surely remain key in Marco Silva’s backline going forward.

John Brooks

Hoffenheim welcomed John Brooks back into its starting lineup on Sunday with the American defender logging 90 minutes in a 1-1 draw with Mainz.
