November 22 – Electronic Arts, the developers of the EAFC football simulation game, has launched its FC Futures $10 million fund that will provide money for infrastructure projects at community-level football.
The plan will see investment over the next three years across multiple grassroots football projects worldwide.
“EA Sports FC is a symbol for a positive future of football, and that future will be built on providing young people with the access and tools necessary to follow their dreams,” said David Jackson, VP of Brand Marketing at EA.
“We are looking forward to partnering with football organisations and icons across the globe to inspire the next generation of young football fans and grow their love of the game.”
This project coincides with the agreement of a multi-year partnership with UEFA Grassroots earlier this month to further support community level football, launching a free-to-access digital library of football training practices.
Zvonimir Boban, UEFA technical director and chief of football, said: “UEFA is delighted to endorse EA SPORTS’ innovative venture, seamlessly merging virtual and real-world football experiences. This initiative offers youngsters a multi-dimensional engagement with the sport and provides an inclusive platform for players and coaches of all levels. That is precisely the leading idea of the UEFA Grassroots Programme – to keep football accessible, safe and fun for everybody who wants to participate while fostering a strong bond with local clubs, schools and communities.”
