Barcelona sensation Gavi’s ACL injury has sent ripples through the footballing world. Irrespective of their allegiances, players across the world have come out in support of the midfield sensation who is now set to face at least six months on the sidelines.
Cruciate ligament injuries are known to be amongst the most stubborn lesions a footballer can suffer. Gavi’s season is now over, and his participation in the EUROS and possibly the Olympic games is now under a cloud of doubt.
Cries of desperation
As relayed by Mundo Deportivo, Gavi struggled to come to terms with the fact that he was seriously injured last night while playing for Spain against Georgia.
He left the field of play in the 26th minute of the night in tears and was absolutely inconsolable in the dressing room.
“It can’t be, it can’t be, why me?” he was heard crying in the locker room at the Jose Zorilla after the gruesome injury.
Gavi’s teammates and members of the coaching staff rushed to comfort the inconsolable starlet but understandably were unsuccessful in their efforts.
Instead, the player’s despair spread through the dressing room and created a gloomy atmosphere.

The 2022 Golden Boy winner returned to Barcelona early on Monday morning and was seen in crutches alongside Inigo Martinez, who returned with him.
Since his return home, the player has been undergoing continuous tests and diagnostic procedures to identify the extent of his injury and the expected layoff period.
Prima facie, the picture does not look good for the youngster and the curtains on his season are all but closed.
It remains to be seen if Barcelona sign a replacement in the winter transfer window, for they are given special clauses to compensate for their loss.
Nevertheless, it is safe to say that no one can claim to have Gavi’s aura and impact on the field and that the void will not be filled.
