USMNT U-17’s fall to France in World Cup group stage finale

It was a forgettable end to group stage play at the FIFA U-17 World Cup for the U.S. Under-17 men’s national team.

Gonzalo Segares’ squad did finish second in Group E but suffered a 3-0 defeat at the hands of France on Saturday morning. Inter Miami defender Tyler Hall was sent off in second-half stoppage time while France scored once before halftime and twice in the final minutes of the match.

Joan Tincres broke the deadlock for Les Bleus in first-half stoppage time, giving France a 1-0 lead that they would not relinquish in the match.

Tincres added his second goal of the match in the 82nd minute before Bastien Meupiyou added an insurance goal just four minutes later.

Hall, who was brought on midway through the second half, was sent off in the 96th minute after receiving a straight red card.

The USMNT U-17’s will face Germany on Tuesday in Round of 16 play.
