Barcelona will encounter major difficulties in pursuit of 19-year-old Brazilian forward

With the winter transfer market fast approaching, Barcelona are evaluating their options in the market.

Although the Catalans do not have the financial capacity to sign anyone in January, the club are still monitoring the progress of a few select players with an eye on the summer window.

One of them is Savinho from Girona. The Brazilian starlet has emerged as one of the rising stars in La Liga this term, with Deco particularly keen on his services.

Barcelona cool interest in Savinho

However, a recent report from Mundo Deportivo has pointed out that Barcelona are reconsidering their pursuit of Savinho.

It appears the club are starting to realise the difficulty associated with the operation to sign Savinho. Currently plying his trade with Girona on a loan deal, it is Troyes FC who own the player.

As it happens, both clubs are owned by City Group, thus making things inconceivably difficult for Barcelona to go through with the project.

Ferran Soriano, the CEO of City Group, has already admitted his intention to keep Savinho within their setup, given he has shown immense potential and could be of use in the years to come.

Not to mention, Girona director Quique Carcel has recently opened up on Savinho’s future, citing the club’s desire to keep hold of the player.

Blow for Barcelona?

As things stand, Barcelona are not in a position to sign Savinho anytime soon, which is indeed a setback for the club.

After getting rid of several attackers in the summer, the Catalans are in desperate need of reinforcements in the offensive unit.

Someone like Savinho could have been an ideal addition to Xavi’s setup, as the forward offers a perfect blend of speed and productivity.
