Barcelona have almost confirmed that there will be little to no changes in the team heading into the winter transfer window. With the squad already running thin due to injuries and depth, Xavi has no intent of losing the players he has at his disposal without replacements.
However, come the summer window, the Catalans will definitely be prioritising selling players in an attempt to raise money through sales, which will open up the space on the wage bill and allow them to sign players.
There are a fair few players on the exit radar at this point, including Sergi Roberto and Marcos Alonso, whose contracts expire in the summer of 2024. It seems unlikely their contracts will be extended beyond next year.
Another player who could be forced out the exit door is Raphinha. The Brazilian signed for Barça for a whopping €65 million in the summer of 2022, but faces an uncertain future after inconsistent performances.
According to a report by FootballTransfers, Tottenham Hotspur are ready to make him a priority signing in January.
Barcelona’s asking price
The report states that Barcelona have priced Raphinha at around €70 million, which is €30 million less than their initial asking price of €100 million from last summer, when Arsenal and Newcastle United were in the race for his signature.
Tottenham are far from happy with Richarlison and Brennan Johnson’s offensive output, and are looking to sign more forwards across the next two windows to fill the Harry Kane-shaped void left in attack.
And while Barcelona are interested in Cristian Romero as a swap deal, they currently prefer cash to ease their financial mess, should Spurs, or another club, be ready to pay €70 million for Raphinha.
Tottenham were initially looking to bring in Ivan Toney from Brentford, but are not too pleased about the asking price posed on him by Brentford, especially with the striker still out of action due to a ban placed on him for a betting scandal.
