According to reports in Brazil, Newcastle United are lining up a bid for Santos striker Marcos Leonardo.
Links to the 20-year-old first surfaced back in June, when The Mail revealed that we had scouts at the Under-20 World Cup to watch the free-scoring forward.
Then came some big claims from Brazil at the end of October, with UOL and Premier League Brasil revealing that Newcastle were in discussions with Santos over a potential move for the youngster.
Fast forward a few weeks, Bolavip Brasil have released an update on our growing interest, claiming we are preparing to launch a €18m bid (£15.75m), including bonuses, to sign Leonardo.
His record at senior level is superb for a player of his age. He’s scored 21 goals in 45 appearances for Santos over the past season, also bagging seven goals in seven games for Brazil’s U20s.
The South American looks a huge talent and could be an ideal third striker to learn from Callum Wilson and Alexander Isak. Let’s hope there’s some truth in this one.
