Sky Sports have released the full four-minute exchange between VAR officials to allow Anthony Gordon’s winning goal against Arsenal earlier this month (watch in full below).

For the first incident, where Joe Willock marginally keeps the ball in play, you can hear VAR claim that there is ‘no conclusive evidence that the ball is out’, which was then agreed with by the assistant VAR.
They then looked at the potential foul on Gabriel from Joelinton. While VAR claimed there was two hands on the defender, they ‘didn’t see anything that warrants him flying forwards’ and moved on.
The final decision was whether or not Gordon was offside, but VAR struggled to find an angle where the ball wasn’t hidden by Joelinton, therefore had ‘no conclusive evidence of Gordon being ahead of the ball’ and awarded the goal.
It’s nothing that we didn’t already know, but it is confirmation of how VAR came to each decision and hopefully we can now finally put this in the past, though Arsenal fans and Mikel Arteta may still think differently!
