Barcelona have had a great influx of talent from La Masia into the first-team setup in recent seasons.
Ansu Fati, Nico Gonzalez, Alejandro Balde, Lamine Yamal, and Fermin Lopez are some of the names that have broken through, but it would be safe to say that Gavi has been the biggest success story of La Masia in recent times.
Gavi had his first-team initiation during the 2020/21 season when Ronald Koeman was in charge, with the midfield sensation having been just 17 years old at the time.
And he has not looked back since, growing into one of the best young midfielders in the game, and becoming a mainstay in the side.
Irreplaceable for club and country
Gavi’s growth in prominence has not been limited to just Barcelona, though, as he has become an integral member of the Spanish national team setup since making his debut for La Roja in 2021.
So much so that, at just 19 years of age, Gavi has already established himself as ‘irreplaceable’ for both club and country, reports Ivan San Antonio of SPORT.
Indeed, the La Masia graduate, whose market value has already shot up to €90 million, enjoys the complete trust of Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez and Spain boss Luis de la Fuente and is seen as an indispensable asset by both.
Out of the 17 matches that Barça have played across all competitions this term, Gavi has featured in 15 of those, missing just two matches, that too only because he was suspended.
Of the 15, the youngster has started in 13 and played the full game on 10 occasions, indicating the faith Xavi places on him.

As far as Spain are concerned, Gavi has started each of their last six games since sitting out against Scotland way back in March earlier this year.
The 19-year-old Golden Boy winner is also producing important goals for De la Fuente’s side, with two of his five goals for La Roja coming in his previous four appearances.
