Barcelona will not sanction any player sales during the January transfer window

The summer transfer window saw Barcelona make many changes to their squad, with a host of players leaving the club.

As we approach the January transfer window, Barcelona are facing the same economic challenges and must sanction more sales, especially if they are to sign new players or register someone like Vitor Roque.

Barcelona unlikely to sell new players in January

However, according to a report from SPORT, Barcelona are facing a precarious situation, as far as player sales are concerned.

The club are open to sanctioning the departure of players who are having fewer minutes this season, in an attempt to save some of the wage bill.

However, none of the Barcelona players have any desire to leave the club in the upcoming January transfer window.

Barça, therefore, are going to have a difficult time trying to save new chips by getting rid of unwanted stars.

Coaching staff also reluctant

Apart from players not wanting to leave Barcelona, even the club’s coaching staff is a bit reluctant when it comes to getting rid of players in January.

Marcos Alonso, Sergi Roberto, and even Andreas Christensen are among the players who have been linked with a move away from Barcelona this season.

But the club’s coaching staff wants to keep hold of them as they are very sensitive about further trimming the squad and reducing the depth of the team.

As per the report, Barcelona management will start evaluating the position of each and every player once the January transfer window closes.

The club are also very firm about not extending the contract of expiring players unless they perform outstandingly well.
