Granada midfielder Gonzalo Villar on Lamine Yamal: “I have him in my fantasy team”

Barcelona starlet Lamine Yamal has burst onto the scene in emphatic fashion, turning the heads of fans, pundits, and coaches alike.

Earlier today, former Celta Vigo manager Carlos Carvahal heaped praise on the youngster, saying that he is not far away from reaching the level of Kylian Mbappe.

Yamal’s incredible rise to prominence has opened the club’s eyes to his tremendous potential and value, as the teenager just signed a new deal tying him to the Catalans till 2026.

And ahead of Barcelona’s league clash with Granada on Sunday, midfielder Gonzalo Villar also had a very high commendation for Yamal while speaking to the press.

Villar sees huge potential in Yamal

According to quotes relayed by Maria Garridos, Villar mentions that he is a big fan of Lamine Yamal and the Spaniard’s style of play, while also crediting Xavi for giving Yamal a platform to showcase his talents.

“I love the type of player Lamine Yamal is. He is my weakness. I see a huge future for him and Xavi is managing him well,” said Villar.

The praise did not stop there, as the 25-year-old midfielder also admitted that he has the Barcelona forward in his La Liga fantasy team, although keeping his fans happy by wishing he stays quiet during their fixture at the weekend.

“I hope he doesn’t score too much on Sunday,” remarked Villar, who is seemingly finding his footing with Granada after moving around on numerous loan deals in the past few years.

It will be interesting to see whether he asks to swap shirts with the Barcelona youngster on Sunday if they come face to face given the amount of praise he has showered on Yamal.
