All of the focus may be on Newcastle’s Champions League opener at the San Siro tonight, but our Under-19s are also in action in the UEFA Youth League today.
They face AC Milan’s U19s – last year’s semi-finalists – at the Centro Sportivo Vismara, which is being shown live on TNT Sports 1 and UEFA.tv at 1pm (Watch live stream for free here).
The team sheets are in and there’s two summer signings in our starting 11, with Irish centre-back Cathal Heffernan coming straight in against the club he left last month. Elsewhere, Travis Hernes also starts in midfield. The Norwegian youth international left Shrewsbury Town to join our academy on deadline day.
Also in the side is Ben Parkinson – who featured for our senior team over pre-season – along with Scottish defender Charlie Mcarthur; the former Kilmarnock talent who signed for £350,000 last summer. Jamie Miley – the older brother of Lewis – captains the side, while highly-rated winger Johnny Emerson also starts.
