September 19 – IMG has renewed exclusive international broadcast, betting data and video rights to the men’s and women’s A-League competitions in Australasia.
Extending their partnership from 2017, when IMG locked in the international rights to the men’s A-League, women’s W-League and the FFA Cup in a six-year deal signed with Football Federation Australia, the new deal includes international broadcast rights, delivery of official data to over 460 bookmakers worldwide as well as distributing the live betting streaming rights outside of Australia. The agreement also includes integrity monitoring.
A-Leagues commissioner Nick Garcia said: “This extension and expansion of this partnership is a testament to the growth opportunity that exists in Australian and New Zealand football right now, and we look forward to continuing to work with IMG to utilise their invaluable expertise and expansive global network.
“The A-Leagues is home to national team stars, international talent and the Matildas and Socceroos of the future. With three new women’s teams in the Liberty A-League Women, and two men’s teams to come to the Isuzu UTE A-League men, we have more football, more goals and more stories for fans to connect with.”
The tender was run by the Australian Professional Leagues (APL), which manages the commercial rights of the league. The terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Dale Levin, senior vice-president, head of Australasia and Southeast Asia for IMG’s media business, said: “We are proud to have developed a strong relationship with APL and helped them achieve significant growth for the A-Leagues over the past six years.” Levin also flagged that the A-Leagues properties take place in a popular time zone for bettors and sportsbooks globally.
