Journalist Luis Rojo has sensationally claimed via MARCA that Barcelona manager Xavi has renewed his contract until 2025 and that the official announcement will be made in the coming days.
The reporter adds that there is a clause in the manager’s contract that states that the deal can be extended for one more year, although this automatic renewal will be subject to the team’s performance and the number of titles they win.
What if there are no titles to show for?
Xavi’s new deal features a provision for his automatic renewal upon the team’s sporting achievements. Should Barça secure titles, the coach will remain in position until 2026.
However, in the absence of such achievements, both parties will need to engage in negotiations once again to determine the way forward.
Interestingly enough, the agreement regarding the current renewal between the two parties was reached a long time ago and Barcelona only waited until this time because they wanted to focus on bigger issues such as transfers, player contracts and the Financial Fair Play problem.

Meanwhile, other extensions that are in the pipeline concern Lamine Yamal and Alejandro Balde. According to the aforementioned report, the announcement will soon be unveiled.
As such, both players have already inked their contracts. Furthermore, it is said that these agreements were finalized prior to the team’s departure for their pre-season tour to the United States, marking two pivotal upgrades for the club.
