Earlier today, we reported that Barcelona remain intent on offloading Ferran Torres in the summer transfer window and hope to make around €40 million from his sale.
Torres’ form has not lived up to expectations and with the Catalans needing to generate revenue, they are aiming to offload the 23-year-old attacker, along with fellow Spanish forward Ansu Fati.
And, according to Gabriel Sans of Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona will try and sign Atletico Madrid winger Yannick Carrasco as a replacement if they are successful in selling Torres this summer.
Ideally, the Blaugrana would prefer a forward who can play anywhere across the frontline, much like Torres, they see Carrasco as a viable alternative.
The 29-year-old Belgian international is entering the final year of his contract with the Rojiblancos. And Barça secured a purchase option worth €16 million for him in January, as part of the deal that saw Memphis Depay move to the Civitas Metropolitano.
Carrasco, at this point, is by no means a top priority for Barcelona. However, he is someone who can provide an unbalancing presence on the flanks and add goals as well, having netted ten in the 2022/23 campaign across all competitions.
Carrasco has accumulated a lot of experience, is good with the ball at his feet and does not shy away from putting in the hard yards defensively, all of which make him an attractive prospect for Barça.
So, while reports suggested that the Catalans’ pursuit of the 29-year-old was going cold, that might not be the case. And the La Liga champions could very well make a move for him if they are successful in offloading Torres this summer.
However, Barcelona might look to further negotiate the €16 million price tag and try to agree a lower fee with Atletico Madrid for Carrasco.
