A recent report from SPORT has offered an update on Barcelona’s pursuit of young Chilean attacker Dario Osorio.
A product of the Universidad de Chile youth academy, Osorio currently plies his trade for the senior side and has already racked up seven goals in 27 competitive matches. The 18-year-old is a right winger by trade, who has built a reputation for his explosive nature of play.
Not to mention, Osorio is capable of operating on either side of the pitch, which in turn, has made him one of the most sought-after players in the Chilean market.
The report from Diario SPORT suggests Barcelona were one of the clubs to have kept close tabs on the youngster’s progress. Their scouting teams have been watching the player closely.
However, it appears Barcelona have backed out from the chase. The Catalans consider Osorio’s valuation of around €7-8 million too high, especially considering the fact that the club were only targeting him as a potential addition to the Barça Atletic squad.
The move, therefore, was not feasible for Barcelona. Instead, the young Osorio is now poised to join RB Bragantino, which is a club owned by the Red Bull franchise. The report suggests Bragantino have made the first steps to close the transfer of Osorio, who may soon move to the Brazilian top division.
Barcelona, for their part, are all set to miss out on the Chilean. However, it is fair to point out that the Catalans are continuing to keep close tabs on the South American markets, as they look to unearth the next big thing in world football.
Barça are notably one of the teams in contention to sign Palmeiras whizkid Endrick, although PSG are said to leading the race for the 16-year-old striker.
